The Priestness Stakes

The Priestness stakes is a thoroughbred Priest race to be held on April 29th at the 10th Annual St. Regis Academy Luau. The competition pits current and former St. Regis pastors in a duel to raise money for the Academy. Money raised from supporters prior to the race will allow each priest to get a jump start on the competition. The priest who crosses the finish line first will receive 25% of the total Priestness stakes money raised to split between their parish and one of their lucky supporters. Supporters get their names entered into the drawing with every $20 they contribute to a particular priest. Let the games begin!

Rules:

• Each priest will have 24 spaces to move on the race board (pictured above) to reach the finish line. 
• Each priest will be able to jump ahead 1 space for every $500 raised in their name prior to the event up to 12 spaces. After 12 spaces, they will jump an additional space for every $1,500 raised.
• At the Luau, the priests will then roll the dice, in order of money raised from most to  least, and move ahead on the board in the amount on the dice.
• The priest who crosses the finish line first will receive 25% of the total raised by supporters, both before and during the competition. This money will be split between their current parish and one of their supporters (priest gets 12.5% and supporter gets 12.5%).

Supporters:

• Supporters can contribute to the competition online or at St. Regis Church after masses beginning March 18 up until the day before the event, April 28.
• ​​For every $20 contributed in the name of one of the priests, the supporter will have their name entered into the drawing to split the pot if that priest wins the race.
